What We Do

Introduction

Our goal is to improve health in Forth Valley and to reduce inequalities in health by concentrating specifically on alcohol and drugs i.e. behaviours that have a direct effect on health.

Aims of the Substance Use Programme

1.  To understand the impact of substance use on health in Forth Valley and what can be done to improve it.
 
2.  Contribute to health policies which have a substance use component.
 
3.  Implement programmes designed to prevent and reduce the substance related harms to health.
 
4.  Disseminate information, evidence and skills.

Objectives

  • Increase knowledge about substance use and its impact in a way that will influence policy and practice to improve health.  

  • Deliver health improvement programmes to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders working in the field of substance use. 

  • Focused work to reduce inequalities between the most affluent and deprived groups to improve both accesses to health programmes and health outcomes.
