World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day (WAD) takes place on 1st December every year.
World AIDS Day is about:
- Keeping up the fight against HIV & AIDS
- Supporting over 33 million people across the world living with HIV & AIDS
- Realising 1 in 3 infections in the UK are undiagnosed
- Fighting prejudice faced by people living with HIV/AIDS
The RED RIBBON
| The RED RIBBON is an international symbol of AIDS awareness and is being worn by increasing numbers of people around the world to demonstrate their care and concern for people affected by HIV and AIDS. It also shows support for efforts to halt the spread of HIV and AIDS. RED RIBBONS are worn every day of the year, not only on World AIDS DAY. Every year in an effort to increase awareness of the ongoing fight against HIV and AIDS the Sexual Health Team issue over 200 information and resource packs to a range of work places and statutory & voluntary agencies for display around WORLD AIDS DAY. If you are interested in supporting WORLD AIDS DAY and would like to receive a resource pack of materials to display in your workplace or organisation, please contact the Sexual Health Team. |
