Sexual Health - Virtual Babies

Model II Virtual Babies

The Sexual Health Team have 3 Model II Virtual Baby infant simulators available for hire.

Virtual Babies, which require to be fed, changed, rocked and burped, provide an experience that simulates the parenting of an infant. Currently in Forth Valley, Virtual Babies are being used with young people in education and community settings to support parenting skills work.

The 'baby' is designed as an aid to help young people make informed decisions about parenting. Specifically caring for the 'baby' helps young people to explore the emotional, financial and social consequences of parenting by conveying 3 key facts:

1. Baby's demands are unpredictable, but must be met promptly.

2. Babies require a great deal of time and attention.

3. Parenting responsibilities change people's lifestyle profoundly.

The Virtual Baby comes with all necessary equipment including clothing, buggy and baby carrier. Supportive resources are available and if required a short session on how to programme and use the Virtual Baby is also provided.
