Condom Skills Training:

  • Condom Skills Training has been developed to assist those involved in sexual health promotion / condom distribution work to develop their confidence and skills around condoms. In this interactive training, participants receive information and demonstrations on the correct use of condoms and other products in the range. They will also find out about what is currently available to them throught ehe Health Promotion Deprtment Condom Distribution Scheme, including any new products. The session goes on to explore the bariers to condom use, and how we can help people to ovecome these barriers.

This is open to all voluntary and statutory sector staff involved in sexual health / condom ditribution work in Forth Valley. This training comprises a single morning of afternoon session and is delivered by the Sexual Health Team with input from a representative of our supplier, Pasante Condoms.

SHARE (Days 1 & 2)  

  • SHARE is a national programme of staff development which is designed to provide participants with knowledge and skills to support the delivery of sexual health & relationships education in the classroom or in an informal setting.  The programme will enable participants to explore and discuss issues that impact on young people's sexual health, whilst gaining experience of practical activities and methodologies that can be used when working with young people.  The programme is open to teaching staff, nursing staff and anyone who works with young people around sexual health issues.  The first 2 days are delivered consecutively with day 3 available at a later stage.

SHARE (Day 3)

  • Following the launch of the revised SHARE training pack in June 2006, we are now offering a thrid day of trainng for staff who have already undertaken the 2-day programme.  The Day 3 programme reflects new materials included in the revised pack plus additional activities requested by participants.  These include activities exploring influences that mould our perceptions of bieng male or female, and addressing lesbian, gay and bisexual issues. The pack also has guidance for adapting or supplementing the matierals when working with young people with learning diabialities.

Sex and the Law

  • This seminar is deliverd by a solicitor from the Scottish Child Law Centre.  The programme includes information on legal rights and responsibilities affecting young people, parents, issues surrounding the dleivery of sex education in schools, confidentiality, child protection, etc.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Training

  • This one day course is for staff working with young people in the community, education/learning and voluntary sectors. The training aims to support staff in addressing LGBT issues with young peole and to raise their awareness of an inclusive approach to practice.

Organisation Specific Condom Skills Training:

This is for staff from a single organisation who engage in condom work with a specific client group. This training is flexible and can be tailored to meet the needs of organisations working in specialised fields, e.g. substance use, the LGBT community etc.
