Scene by Us

Introduction

Scene by Us is a toolkit designed to support secondary school pupils film, produce and distribute a DVD about their school and the choices that young people attending secondary school make everyday.

The idea behind the project is to use the knowledge, ideas and experiences of young people who have recently begun secondary school to support those who are about to start.

Scene by Us was first developed to focus on choices that affect dental health so the key topic areas covered are:

Fuelling Up - Food and Health / Food in School

Cool Water - Water and Health / Water in School

Smoke Free Zone - Smoking and Health / Smoking and Young People

Looking Good & Feeling Good - Dental Health, Personal Hygiene, Physical Activity and Mental Health

Alcohol Facts - Alcohol and Health / Alcohol and Young People

You may find that the young people involved in the production and design of the DVD in your school will identify other topic areas or health issues that they think might be helpful to highlight to new pupils, in these instances it is important to thoroughly check the information sources and be confident the messages beign given are accurate.
