'How to ...run a cooking workshop'
The How to...run a cooking workshop booklet contains all the information you need to get you started taking part in food activities, cooking sessions or demonstrations with community groups or with individuals. It contains points to consider before starting a cooking group, details of equipment required and some useful shopping tips..

There are a series of 8 recipe sheets to base food activities around:

'How to' Workshop Sheets

The 'How to' series of workshops on:

1. DIY Fruit Salad Workshop (PDF 275 kb - 4 pages)
2. Fruit and Vegetables Workshop (PDF 289 kb - 4 pages)
3. Pizza Workshop (PDF 286 kb - 4 pages)
4. Smoothie Workshop (PDF 266 kb - 4 pages)

These 'How to' instruction sheets can be used with community groups, schools, youth clubs, play schemes and nurseries. They provide a step by step guide on how to run a pizza / fruit salad / fruit smoothie / fruit and vegetable workshop. They indicate things which you should consider prior to running a workshop, essential equipment required and an outline of the content of the workshop. Simple recipes are also included as separate sheets for participants to take away.

Eat Well, Feel Great Leaflets
Set of 8 A5 leaflets can be used individually or as a set of 8. They support the Scottish Executive's key dietary targets - topics include general healthy eating, breakfast, water, fruit, vegetables, starchy carbohydrates, oily fish and salt. The leaflets contain general information on each of these topics, a few recipe ideas and useful nutrition websites are listed on each. These leaflets are intended for use with the general public and they could be used in a wide range of settings. Download leaflets here:

Eatwell - Display Panels
Set of 8 large posters for use on display boards illustrating the Scottish Executives key dietary targets. There is a poster on the following topics - general healthy eating, water, breakfast, fruit, vegetables, oily fish, salt and starchy carbohydrate. These posters could be on display in workplaces, community centres, health centres or used in schools at health fairs, parents evenings or exhibitions.

Eatwell - Activity Floor Mat and Food Models
This resource can be used in a vast number of ways and can be an effective tool to promote healthy eating messages amongst children, teenagers and adults. This pack contains a large plate model floor mat and a number of plastic food models from each of the 5 food groups. There is also an instruction book which gives ideas of a number of activities which could be carried out with different age groups. A fun and interactive teaching resource.

Sugar Display
This resource raises awareness of the amount of added sugars in common snack foods and drinks. It includes various handouts which can be photocopied and there is a quiz to guess the amounts of sugar. 

  Swap and Save Model Display Swap and Save Food Model Display
This resource contains a range of snack food and drink models. Sugar and fat cubes have been used in the display to illustrate the amount of hidden sugar and fats in the foods/drinks. The display also highlights how you can swap and save calories, sugar and fat.

  Ten Tantalising Tastes Front Cover

Ten Tantalising Tastes For Tiny Tums
This resource contains a number of quick and easy, non-cook recipes that can be used as food activities with small groups of children.  The food activities offer excellent play and learning opportunities for children aged 3-5 years old.  They are designed to promote healthy eating and in particular encourage children to eat more fruit and vegetables.

  Infant Nutrition - Baby Guide to Weaning Resource 
This is a portable teaching resource for staff involved in educating and supporting parent/carers who are looking for information on how to wean their baby. It is an A4 table top flipchart which uses photographs to illustrate and explain weaning. The resource provides information on when and how to start to wean and explains the different stages of weaning. It promotes a variety of suitable food as well as information on how to achieve the appropriate texture for baby. Also, 'A Guide to Weaning' promotes a balanced diet for the whole family and encourages family meal time. A Guide to Weaning is divided into 6 easy to handle sections and although it can be used in section sequence it is up to staff how they use the resource. It can be used with small groups or individual parents/carers.

One More Step. Information and advice on developing a 'whole school' approach to food in schools 
This toolkit was developed in collaboration by the Community Dietitians and Health Development Officers of NHS Forth Valley and with partners working in the three local council areas. It is designed for use within a Health Promoting School framework as a resource that will provide brief, easily accessible information, and advice on aspects of a "whole school" approach to Eating for Health. It highlights curricular links, web references and signposts to current national and local documents and will help to support your school in progressing nutritional issues.
