Background

Health Promoting Health Service

The main focus of work directed for the NHS Setting will be linked to the Health Promoting Health Service (H.P.H.S.). This is still very much in the developmental stage.

The Chief Executive Managers in the Acute Service and the Director of Public Health all support the principles of H.P.H.S. (see NHS Health Scotland).

Funding has been sought to take forward a Weight Control Project for NHS staff and families, which will be project managed using the standards set by the World Health Organisation (W.H.O.)

Other projects include:

  • Keep Moving in Bonnybridge - a programme to reduce laxative use in a community hospital by increasing fruit, vegetables and water, plus physical activity in all elderly, long stay population.
  • Supporting Breast Feeding and Infant Feeding Groups - to become 'Baby Friendly'.

Further information on these and other work regarding resources and paediatric oral health can be found by contacting Judith Morgan or Rhona Denham - see Team Contacts page.
