The Big Fit Walk |
The main aim of Big Fit Walk is to raise the profile of the Paths to Health Scheme. The scheme encourages people to meet the physical activity requirement of 30 minutes of moderate intensity 5 x per week, which the Health Board for Scotland says we should be all aiming to achieve. The walk can be done on a class or school basis, older pupils buddying younger pupils or parents buddying pupils. The beauty of the walk is that it can be adapted to suit each community⦣128;⦣132;?s need. Some groups walk around their local community, some walk around the football pitch. Grangemouth High School |
Water Policy Bob McMillan, Depute Headteacher with responsibility for health at Grangemouth High School, alongside staff, parents and pupils, have produced a Water Policy CD-ROM . The whole school policy has been introduced and subsidised water bottles can be bought in school. Areas where drinking is permitted are clearly marked by door signs. Drinking water is essential for effective learning to keep the body and brain hydrated. If the brain is hydrated concentration is better thus learning is better. The CD includes letters to parents, lesson plans, logos for water bottles and door signs. Copies of the CD are available from Jude Grimshaw |
