Mortality Maps

Maps are a useful way of visualising patterns of mortality across areas.

The following maps show standardised mortality ratios (SMRs) for Coronary Heart Disease, Cancer, and Stroke by community area.  An SMR of greater than 100 tells us that the community in question has a higher mortality rate than would have been expected if Scottish mortality rates (age-standardised) had applied to the community's population.

Please note that the SMRs are based on persons of all ages and not only those under 75 years.
