Falkirk and District Royal Infirmary provides a wide range of health services for local people as well as planned medical and surgical services for patients across Forth Valley.
As part of our agreed strategy to transform healthcare across Forth Valley, acute services currently provided at this site will transfer across to the new Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert at the beginning of August 2011.
A community hospital will then be developed on the site to ensure that a wide range of health services continue to be provided locally.
These include dental services, speech and language therapy, dietetics, sexual health and psychology.
Around 100 community-based inpatient beds will also be provided for Falkirk patients who require rehabilitation, palliative and continuing care. Up to 86 of these beds will be provided on the community hospital site either in a new purpose-built, facility equipped with single en-suite rooms or within existing modern ward accommodation. A small number of elderly mental health beds will also be provided on the Stirling Community Hospital site in modern ward accommodation which better meets the needs of patients and staff.
