Services
Art Therapy:
Art Therapy utilises the potential of art to assist expressive communication, providing clients with opportunities to address personal issues which may be proving problematic. Art Therapy is not particularly concerned with the finished art product, but rather focuses on the making of it. This, plus the involvement of the therapist who reflects on the interactive dynamics of the process, enables clients to give form to their inner world and engage towards the alleviation of any distress which can compound their difficulties.
Music Therapy:
Music is used to facilitate a therapeutic relationship between client and therapist, through which the client may experience emotional integration and growth. The music is primarily improvised and acts as a communicative tool, enabling the client to express themselves. The therapist supports and validates this expression, meeting each individual at their level and nurturing a system of communication appropriate to each client. Music Therapy is derived from a combination of musical knowledge (eg improvisation skills) and therapeutic knowledge (eg psychodynamic principles).

Referrals
Referrals for Arts Therapies should be made by community mental health teams, community learning disability teams, general practitioners, or by hospital consultants.
