Childrens Diabetes Team
Forth Valley Children's Diabetes Team
The Children's diabetes team holds clinics in both Stirling and Falkirk Infirmaries.
There are also Young Person's clinics held regularly for children from the age of 12 upwards. These are held together with the adult diabetes specialist (Dr John Doig (Falkirk) and Dr Chris Kelly (Stirling) and our team of Paediatric and Adult Diabetes Nurse Specialists.
At each clinic, there are regular chiropody (or podiatry, as it's now known) sessions, dietetic sessions and access to clinical psychologists.
We are currently in the process of trying to improve services for families in Forth Valley, to provide even better support for them and in accordance with national guidelines for children's diabetes care.
The team in Forth valley comprises:
- A consultant paediatrician - Dr. John Schulga.
- Diabetes nurses for part of the week - Mrs Nicky Thomson and Mr Scott Graham.
- Dietitians - Mrs. Lindsay Campbell in Falkirk and Mrs. Anne Farmer in Stirling.
- A podiatrist - Mrs. Isobel Thomson.
- Access to clinical psychology services when needed.
