Art Therapy

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of communication. Art Therapy differs from other psychological therapies in that it is a three way process between the client, the therapist and the image or artefact. The client's creative experience and the images/objects made may become tangible methods for feelings, experiences and conflicts to be observed, shared and acknowledged within a developing therapeutic relationship. It offers opportunities for expression and communication - aiming to effect change and growth on a personal level - and can be particularly helpful to people who find it hard to express their thoughts and feelings verbally.

Music Therapy

Music is used to facilitate a therapeutic relationship between client and therapist, through which the client may experience emotional integration and growth. The music is primarily improvised and acts as a communicative tool, enabling the client to express themselves. The therapist supports and validates this expression, meeting each individual at their level and nurturing a system of communication appropriate to each client. Music Therapy is derived from a combination of musical knowledge (e.g. improvisational skills) and therapeutic knowledge (e.g. psychodynamic principles)
