Do you have or know anyone who has Tinnitus? The NHS Forth Valley Audiology Tinnitus Team will be running events to raise better awareness of this condition during the British Tinnitus Awareness Week which runs between 8th and 14th February 2010.
Not an illness or disease, tinnitus is a term that describes the sensation of hearing a noise in the absence of an external sound. It affects around 5 million people in the UK and is known to be one of the most common health problems facing the UK today.
Tinitus can be distressing for the affected individual and issues may arise with sleep, concentration and mood. However, in many cases, subtle changes in people's environment can address these issues, and improve quality of life.
NHS Forth Valley Audiology Staff will be on hand at two events during the week to answer questions and give advice to you if you have or know anyone who has tinnitus and would like to find out more about the condition.
The sessions will be held at Clackmannanshire Community Healthcare Centre on Wednesday 10th February 2010 at 10am until 3pm and the Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Camelon on Tuesday 9th February 10am until 12 noon.
