Need an NHS Dentist - Look No Further

New places at NHS DentistThe waiting list for people trying to register with an NHS dentist in Forth Valley could be cut substantially with the news that a dental practice in Grangemouth has created additional capacity for up to 4,000 new patients. It is due to a one million pound refurbishment of premises in Bo'Ness Road which contain seven surgeries and are the culmination of five years planning to achieve what partners believe is a model for the future.

The clinic, formerly called Kinniburgh, Herd and Bryden, is now known as The Practice. It has high quality decontamination facilities, access for disabled people and top class accommodation for staff. Although the facilities are at the cutting edge of dental technology, the façade of the prominent Victorian building has been maintained. The project has been realised with the help of 80,000 funding from the NHS; the practice has also been involved in the NHS training scheme for more than l5 years.

Partner Ian Herd said: "I feel that we have created a dental clinic in Grangemouth which serves the community to the highest standards and provides care in a manner which is comfortable for both patients and staff. Patients all like the newly modernised practice and the relaxed air it creates "

In addition to two new surgeries, The Practice also has full access for disabled people and a decontamination unit with one room for cleaning and disinfecting, and an air pressurised 'clean room.'

NHS Forth Valley Consultant in Dental Public Health Derek Richards said: "The creation of additional NHS dental access in Grangemouth is very welcome, particularly when the premises are such high quality. It provides a fine example of the type of development that is possible and we would like to see similar developments across Forth Valley."

During the seven months of building staff were determined to keep business as usual and the practice only closed for one afternoon.
