New Services
The new health facility will become the cornerstone of healthcare provision in Clackmannanshire for a population of more than 47,000.
The new health centre
The replacement Alloa health centre will serve a population of 25,000 people in Alloa and thesurrounding areas and will see approximately 800 patients each day. It will provide a range of primary care service to the 25,000 people of Alloa, including:
- Three GP practices accommodating 16 GPs
- Dental
- Community nursing services
- Physiotherapy
- Treatment room services
- Out-patient clinics
- Chiropody
The new community hospital
The Community Hospital will provide a range of services to the wider population of Clackmannanshire (47,000) and will include:
- 45 in-patient beds for physically frail older people, mentally frail older people, including provision for intermediate care and rehabilitation, palliative care and continuing care of those with complex needs
- Multidisciplinary teams within the unit to enable patients to return home after having an acute illness or operation
- Patients will be cared for in mainly single rooms
- 40 day services for older people and people with mental health problems
- A base for the community mental health teams and other community services
- A base for Social Work teams
