We want to provide the highest quality health services for people in Stirling. However, many of our present surgeries are too old and/or too small to provide modern high quality medical care.
With the population in Stirling continually growing and additional primary care services being provided within the community setting, there is an increased pressure on space in many medical practices.
Five Stirling GP practices (Allan Park, Orchard House, Park Avenue, Park Terrace and Viewfield) are coming together with NHS Forth Valley to plan and build new surgeries. As well as creating more space, locating family doctors and community-based services together can improve the service. This may also allow NHS Forth Valley scope to add in additional services, such as community nurses or podiatry services. All practices are keen to maintain their own identity in any new development and will continue to provide a high quality personal service.
We are at the early stages of planning and are looking at options for the new arrangements. In creating an Outline Business Case, your opinion is valued alongside consideration of space, access, transport and cost. Before we choose a preferred option we want to hear your views.
NHS Forth Valley has indicated a preference to keep two centres, and are looking at building one at the Orchard House site on Union Street and one at the Stirling Royal Infirmary site. The earliest new buildings could be occupied would be 2010 (Orchard House) and 2013 (Stirling Royal Infirmary).
