Services

Acute surgical services are based at Falkirk Community Hospital, where complex and emergency patients are admitted to a mixed speciality ward, and paediatric surgery is carried out from the children's ward. Planned care is carried out at the Falkirk Community Hospital, at the Ophthalmology Day Case Unit. Outpatient facilities are available on both sites. We currently provide 24 hour access to emergency ophthalmic care.

• Paediatric care
• Corneal external disease
• Ocular dystonia
• Immunosuppression clinic - In collaboration with a physician, Dr Bramley
• Lacrimal assessment - in collaboration with Mr Tin, an ENT surgeon
• Medical retina/macula disease
• Glaucoma
• One stop lid surgery
• Adult and childrens low vision clinics are held at the Forth Valley Sensory Centre

Referrals

Referrals to hospital eye services can be made by your GP or optometrist.  Once a referral is received, your consultant will review the information provided, and decide whether you need an urgent or a routine appointment. You will either be invited to ring to choose a time and place that suits you, or if an urgent consultation is required you will be sent an appropriate appointment.
