The 'Big Fit Walk' is an annual Falkirk Community Health Partnership event which runs in conjunction with 'Step Forth' and 'Braveheart' local walking initiatives.
The aim of the event is to promote the health benefits of walking and encourage as many people as possible - locally, nationally and beyond - to take a 30 minute (approximately 2 mile) walk, to highlight the major benefits of this level of physical activity as part of a regular routine.
Groups register and are sent stickers for their walkers which feature active fruit and vegetables, and this year organisers have added a new seventh sticker to promote Falkirk Heart Town. Maximum participant numbers have reached over 14,000 in previous years which organisers are looking to beat in 2013.
School and young people are particularly encouraged to take part to promote keeping fit to the younger generation. This year's event will take place on Friday 14th June - see www.bigfitwalk.co.uk for more info or to download a registration form.
