The Travel Plan will be monitored regularly by the Board. Continuous reviews will be held with bus operators to make sure that services to the new Forth Valley Royal Hospital are operating successfully. There will also be road shows on journey options for staff re-locating from Falkirk and DistrictRoyal Infirmary and Stirling Royal Infirmary, and travel information will be displayed in GP surgeries, public buildings and council offices.
"Providing the correct mix of options for accessing the new hospital has been a huge undertaking. It has involved lengthy discussions with transport operators, communities, patient groups and staff representatives. I have always been vehemently opposed to charging patients and visitors for parking and ensured that this was the case when negotiating the contract for the new hospital.
Our travel plan also aims to cut the amount of transport-based emissions and greenhouse gases. We recognise, however, that in order to achieve this, we need to encourage more people to leave their cars at home. That's why we're committed to improving public transport as it will offer many local people a real alternative to driving."
