What are Friends?

People walking through the hospital atrium'Friends' are voluntary groups of local residents who dedicate their time, energy and effort to raising funds for the benefit of hospitals and patients throughout Forth Valley

They also promote interest in the hospitals and provide a link between them and the communities they serve.

NHS Forth Valley currently has 5 Friends Groups associated with hospitals:

  • The Friends of Falkirk & District Royal Infirmary
  • The Society of Friends of Stirling Royal Infirmary
  • The Friends of The Inpatients of Clackmannanshire Community Healthcare Centre
  • The Friends of Bo'ness Hospital and the Friends of Bannockburn Hospital.

Each of these groups manage their own affairs and raise and distribute funds independent of NHS Forth Valley.

Friends of Forth Valley Royal Hospital

The recently established Friends of Forth Valley Royal is managed by twelve local residents who raise funds for the benefit of Forth Valley Royal Hospital staff, patients and patient relatives.

The organisation became formally constituted on the 13th of January 2011 and the intention is to apply for charitable status in the near future. The objects of the Group are:

  • To promote the comfort and welfare of Forth Valley Royal Hospital patients and staff and provide additional amenities which have not been provided by the National Health Service.
  • To stimulate and foster interest in the Forth Valley Royal Hospital and in the welfare of the patients, relatives and staff.
  • To provide a link between the Forth Valley Royal Hospital and the communities which it serves.
